This book has been designed to provide even beginner-level students with the skills to write coherently in basic Japanese. The book is divided into two parts: Basic Practice (Units 1-15), which uses the vocabulary and sentence patterns found in Minna no Nihongo Shokyu I and II Main Texts, and Practical Application (Units 16-20), which involves practical application at a level equal to the beginning of the intermediate (Chukyu) stage books.
Each unit is based on a different topic, such as basic introductions and giving presents, and has a model article, some comprehension questions, and then a chance to write your own short piece.
The book comes with a separate appendix booklet at the back that includes vocabulary lists with English, Chinese and Korean translations, a flow chart showing the structure of the desired piece of writing, an answer key, and a teacher's guide.
Minna no Nihongo is probably the most famous series of Japanese language study guides, used widely in universities, language schools, and privately around the world.
